FIELD GUIDE

At the bottom of the Americas the wind has the final word. Patagonia is granite spires, glaciers that calve into milky lakes and a sky so wide it changes the way you breathe. We walk the Torres del Paine massif on foot, the way it deserves to be seen, sleeping in small refugios and a private camp away from the busiest sites.

Our leader Tomás grew up on an estancia near Puerto Natales. He knows which valleys stay sheltered when the westerlies blow, where condors ride the thermals in the afternoon and which family still cooks lamb al palo over an open fire.

Good to know

  • Weather changes fast: four seasons in a day is normal, so pack layers, not bulk.
  • Days are long in summer — up to 17 hours of light in December.
  • Currency is the Chilean peso; cards are accepted almost everywhere except refugios.
  • Park entry permits are booked by us and included in every journey.
